SEO Benefits for Affiliate Marketing

A recent study by MarketingSherpa has detected that top organic positions are clicked twice more often than top paid-advertising positions: 20 and 10 per cent respectively. And if a site has both top organic and a top paid-advertising positions, the links common click through rate comes to an impressive 60 per cent!

SEO is a separate question when it comes to ready made or pre-populated affiliate stores. When people buy these ready made sites, usually most of their content is duplicated from the merchant’s store (Amazon, for example). Product descriptions, technical details, customer reviews and all other merchant texts are copied either from the merchant or from other resources. And although this is normal taking into consideration the low prices for ready affiliate stores it is not ideal for SEO. But the simple fact is that nobody will write unique quality articles for a site that costs $100. And duplicated content is generally not so good (and sometimes even very bad) for your webstore ranking. So what do you do to get your affiliate site ranking?

Most buyers of ready websites don’t pay attention to the fact that their content is not unique. Some of them – because of ignorance and assurance that online business does not require any additional efforts and perfections. Others prefer to use paid ads, such as pay per click Google AdWords, and don’t care for organic traffic. But it is in the long term interests of your website to get organic ranking, and it would be a mistake for an affiliate marketer not to study and implement search engine optimization. With a properly optimized site and addition of unique content, advertising costs will come to minimum.

SEO is a complex of activities aiming to make a website more visible in organic (un-paid) search engine results. The higher a site’s positions are, the more buyers and money it gets. So, there is no need to prove that SEO is vital for any website, and for an affiliate store as well.

SEO is an important part of online marketing. It studies users’ requests and search engines algorithms. To be a good optimizer – means to know what questions people are asking Google, and how to lift a website to top positions at certain requests. This process involves on and off-page SEO: keywords analysis, meta tags writing, content creating and editing, special coding, link-building, etc. All these measures aim to make the site more relevant to required keywords and easy for indexing by search robots. If you buy a turnkey webstore with ready content, it does not mean you should leave texts untouched. You can rewrite product descriptions and other texts to raise their uniqueness and update your blog regularly.

Off-page SEO is going through a transition period currently, and its future is uncertain, that’s why we recommend focusing on internal optimization (on-page SEO), quality content and frequent updates. These activities are always well-timed if you observe certain rules. As for external incoming links, select only trusted websites of similar niches, which are able to give you good targeted traffic. Publish relevant texts with necessary keywords on external sites with links to your website. This helps your website acquire more authority and be noticed by search engines.

Good on-site practises include internal linking from one page to another, and including plenty of unique content. For an Amazon affiliate website, reviews and how-to guides are a great way to beef up a sites content and make your website an attractive resource in the market. If you need some help or lack the time then we can offer a great range of both on-page seo and off-page seo services.
